WebAug 15, 2024 · I use about 25% of the soil volume. For me, 5 gal pots would use about 1-1/4 gallons. A lot depends on how dry you let them get, the soil mix, etc. I put the pot inside another, larger pot so I can water from top down and bottom up. Once the soil will absorb no more, I let it sit for 5-10 minutes.
