WebThe Naxalite movement is a political movement which came on the Indian scene in 1967, when there was an armed upsurge of peasants and labourers against the local landlords in a place called Naxalbari in west Bengal. The peasants stormed the granaries of the landlords, forcibly harvested standing crops, burnt records of outstanding debts, etc.
