WebMRI with or without intraarticular contrast administration is the preferred method for evaluating internal derangement of the shoulder. Newer techniques and improved spatial resolution have increased the diagnostic utility and frequency of requests for shoulder MRI. WebMaterials and methods: Retrospective analysis of our institution's database of 5,101 MRI examinations of the shoulder during an 8-year period resulted in 187 examinations in 185 patients who were thought to have intramuscular cysts. Of the 187 examinations, 134 shoulders in 132 patients (62 women, 70 men) met our criteria for an intramuscular cyst.
